Bear most likely wandering in Nags Head Woods

Some of the heaviest concentration of black bears in the world are in Alligator National Wildlife Refuge and Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge. Black bears being black bears and good swimmers, it’s not surprising if one did find its way to Nags Head Woods. The Outer Banks Voice has the info.

“The Nags Head Woods Preserve posted this cautionary note on its Facebook page on June 3.

“This time of year, a black bear occasionally makes its way from the mainland to the Outer Banks and one has been spotted in Kill Devil Hills.”
