obx shag harvest dance for charity

The Outer Banks Relief Foundation helps local families in need. The amount of assistance is not that great—generally $500-$3000—but the money often represents a lifeline for a family that feels it can’t survive. Here’s a great example of what they do that we found on Nancy Proctor’s Outer Banks CommonGood site.

“The Shag Harvest Dance is an event to raise money for local charities or special individuals with severe illnesses. This year’s dance will benefit twelve year old Sonny Albarty of Manteo who recently underwent a double lung transplant procedure earlier this year. Working through the Outer Banks Relief Foundation, all proceeds will be used to benefit Sonny as he progresses from his major surgery.”
