Long lines and interminable waits may be a thing of the past at the Dare County driver’s license office in Manteo if a second office is opened. According to this press release from North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles and published in the Virginian Pilot, North Carolina is looking for a second location in the county.
“The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles is seeking proposals to open a new driver license office in Dare County, according to a news release.
Currently, the county is serviced by a mobile unit, which is at the mercy of the weather and can be unreliable, the news release said. The agency also said population growth and distance to other nearby driver license offices were factors in the decision.”
