Anyone headed to Duck or beyond on a summer weekend can generally expect for traffic to be slow, or stopped altogether. According to this story by Kip Tabb over on the Outer Banks Voice, the Kitty Hawk Police Chief has come up with a plan to help move things along.
“After another summer of monumental traffic jams, plans are being put in place to try to alleviate some of the congestion at the critical intersection of U.S. 158 and N.C. 12 in Kitty Hawk.
Kitty Hawk Police Chief Joel Johnson told the Town Council at its last meeting that he will station an officer there “to ensure that the intersection remains clear of vehicles during times when the traffic signal cycles.”
Motorists often create gridlock trying to force their way through the traffic signals. Johnson said the officers will remain in their vehicles.”
