Sunday is looking cold and blustery, so bundle up, bring your hand warmers and warm beverages, but don’t miss the 28th Annual Kelly’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade. There’s a lot of history behind the OBX’s favorite parade, and Russ Lay does a great job of chronicling all the fun in this great piece on the Outer Banks Voice.

“When Mike Kelly announced last year that Kelly’s Outer Banks Restaurant and Tavern was entertaining a purchase offer from a foreign-owned company, rumors began to swirl concerning the future of an almost three-decades-old Dare County tradition — the Kelly’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

There’s no need to be concerned.

March 12 will mark the 28th annual Kelly’s St. Patrick’s Parade in Nags Head, and Kelly invited the Voice to sit down with him and talk about the parade’s past, present and future.”
