kdh commissioners reject mccrory’s off-shore drilling pitch

With the Republican led NC General Assembly and Governor McCrory charging ahead with an off-shore proposal to explore for gas and oil, the Kill Devil Hills Commissioners voted unanimously to reject the idea in a resolution. This article from Rob Morris of the Outer Banks Voice gives a good sense of what the Commissioners feel is at stake.

“With state lawmakers and the governor rallying for more energy exploration, Kill Devil Hills commissioners have reasserted opposition to drilling for oil and natural gas.

A resolution passed by the Board of Commissioners last week questions figures claiming millions in income and thousands of jobs generated by energy production. It says money and jobs from tourism far exceed any projections from oil and gas.”
