The 2nd Annual OBX Brewtag is Saturday!

You’ll need to keep your eyes to the sky this Saturday, October 22 from 12-6pm at The Soundside Event Site in Nags Head. The inaugural OBX Brewtag event in 2015 was a BLAST (check out the quick recap video below) and this year is primed to be even better!

What can beat enjoying a gorgeous fall Outer Banks afternoon of flying kegs, amazing craft beer, live music, local food vendors, kids activities (outdoor rock wall, mechanical shark, arts and crafts) and much more?

Here’s the deets:

Admission to this family-friendly festival is FREE to the general public, however Brew cards, an assortment of merchandise, kid zone activity tickets, food, raffle tickets, and more can be purchased at the event. All net proceeds will benefit The Rogallo Foundation.

The Flight: Don’t miss this “only on the Outer Banks” competition in which 15 teams will attempt to fly an empty 1/6 keg barrel the furthest, competing for bragging rights as they write another chapter of OBX aviation history. The teams –with geographic representation from the Outer Banks; Wilmington; Raleigh; New Bern; Edenton; Charlottesville, VA and points in between – have been diligently working for months, perfecting their handmade flying contraptions. Distance is key but style and creativity is also essential for success!

The Food and Drink: Enjoy 30 craft beers for sale from local and regional favorites including: Outer Banks Brewing Station, Weeping Radish Farm Brewery, Lost Colony Brewery, Bold Rock Hard Cider, Natty Greene’s Brewing Company, Oskar Blues Brewery, Mother Earth Brewing, Honor Brewing Company, Devils Backbone Brewing Company, Deep River Brewing Company, Check Six Brewing Company, Bull City Burger and Brewery, Fortnight Brewing Company, Stone Brewing, and New Belgium Brewing Company. Mulligan’s Raw Bar and Grille and Island Snowball will also be on hand to please the palate!

The Tunes: An amazing lineup of live music will be filling the air, beginning with folkadelic local favorites, Blurky’s Quirky Friends (12-1:30pm), followed by original roots, rock, and reggae from Kill Devil Hills’ own, Sensi Trails (3:30-4:30pm) and Norfolk, Virginia’s staple rock/jam band, Octopus, (5-6pm).

The Kiddos: The Kids Zone will feature a 30-foot portable rock wall, mechanical shark, bounce house and slide, wax hands station, face painting, arts and crafts activities, and more!

The Parking: There will be NO on-site parking available this year but FREE off-site parking in Nags Head has been secured, along with FREE shuttle service to transport guests to and from the event. For a list of parking and shuttle locations, as well as some great local cab companies, visit http://www.obxbrewtag.com/venue.

All net proceeds from OBX Brewtag will benefit The Rogallo Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the legacy of Francis and Gertrude Rogallo. Francis, a NASA scientist and inventor of the flexible wing, is considered the “father of hang gliding,” whose designs led to the creation of stunt kites, power kites, and hang gliders flown today. The event is sponsored by Kitty Hawk Kites, Brew Thru and the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau.
