“During the planning for the 2013 season of The Lost Colony, an idea came up for use of the newly renovated Sound Stage Theatre.  Two years prior the Outer Banks Visitors bureau had awarded a large grant to kick the renovations off and the space was now ready to accept the public.  So, on a very limited basis, Character Dinners at The Lost Colony were born.

“We offered it eight times last summer and sold out three of them.  We were pleasantly surprised.  The dinners weren’t marketed in any of our ads or our brochure.  The idea was conceived of too late to get in our marketing.  So we put it out there on our website and they started selling out.  The demand literally overwhelmed the supply later in the summer.  So we’re nearly tripling the number of times it will be offered in 2014 and we will be doing them every Tuesday and Wednesday night all season.  Even at that, two of them are already sold out” said Bill Coleman, CEO.

The character dinner ticket is a package ticket that includes an Italian buffet dinner, a visit from actors from the show, a backstage tour and premium seating to The Lost Colony.  Doors open at 6 and service begins at 6:30.  The Lost Colony is proud to be partnering again with Pizza Hut who puts out a large spread of pastas, salads, breads, desserts and soft drinks.

The 77th season of The Lost Colony is set to open on May 30.  Tickets are on sale now and available by phone at 252-473-2127, or online at www.thelostcolony.org.

“The feedback we received last year was really positive and encouraged us to expand the program.  It’s been a great opportunity for us to provide something new and different that enhances the experience of The Lost Colony.  I can’t wait to get back in there this summer!”  said Coleman.”
