bonner bridge replacement inches forward

Behind the scenes there has been considerable effort to move the Bonner Bridge replacement project forward. Finally . . . the first concrete proof! New power lines are being put into place, a necessary first step to keep Hatteras Island on the power grid, as Sam Walker writes in his article for the Outer Banks Voice.

“Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative has started the preliminary utility work necessary to begin construction of the new Herbert C. Bonner Bridge over Oregon Inlet next spring.

“After decades of delays and court challenges, the people of Dare County and North Carolina will finally begin to see construction on the replacement for the Bonner Bridge,” Gov. Pat McCrory said in a press release Friday, announcing the start of the power line work.”

More evidence that the Bonner Bridge replacement project is moving forward as reported in the Outer Banks Voice.
